Stain Removal Tips

So you’ve spilled red wine on your favorite blouse? It happens. Here are some quick tips to get those nasty, costly stains out of your fav clothing.

- Contrary to popular belief, soap does not get stains out. In fact, rubbing a stain with a bar of soap will probably set the stain and make it worse.

- Until you’ve tried all possible techniques to remove your stain, never iron the piece of stained clothing. But be sure to take care of the stain as soon as possible- time is your worst enemy.

-If you purchased a stain remover, test it somewhere that isn’t visible to ensure that it doesn’t affect the color of the garment.

-If your stain is protein-based, never use hot water! Hot water will set any protein stain.

Removing red wine:

Everyone has had a red wine stain at some point, but how do you tackle these nasty stains?

Pour or sponge on club soda and blot with a clean cloth until it comes out completely. If that does do the trick , use the following: 1 cup of vinegar, 1 Tbsp. of clear dishwashing liquid and 1/2 cup of water.

Tips for Fuller Lips

Want fuller, thicker lips? Don’t we all?

-Use a lip plumper! It’s essentially a lip gloss, but it contains special ingredients to make your lips look plumper.

- Try applying darker lipstick to the outer corner of your mouth, and gloss in the center to create an even fuller effect that you’ll be sure to love.

And the best is always last:

For fake injections . . . . line your lips just outside of your lip line , then fill in the area with lipstick and, voila, you’ve just given yourself fuller lips without the costly injections!

How Retinol Can Improve Your Skin

Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A that is essential to collgen production, a component of the dermis that gives your skin a youthful look.

Retinol will help reduce discoloration, wrinkles, and other fine lines. In short, it will make your skin look younger, healthier and more vibrant.  Moreover, Retinol helps skin turnover. That is, it will help you with your exfoliation, making it easier for you to get rid of dead layers of skin on your face.  This also helps you fight adult acne that results from blocked pores.

There are various Retinol serums available on the market , including Afirm 1X , SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 and Topix Replenix Retinol Plus Smoothing Serum 10X.

Texas Passes New Law Governing Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is extremely effective and hugely popular. However, the process is completed by technicians, many of whom may be new to the filed and not at an expert level.

Texas has recently passed a law that requires all prospective laser hair removal techs to complete 40 hours of classroom training and 100 supervised procedures before becoming a certified laser hair removal technician. The national laser institute is located in Dallas, Texas and Scottsdale, AZ. As both a spa and a school, they receive their equipment for free, which allows them to charge 50-75% below other spas. What a loophole!

It sounds like someone very powerful in the laser hair removal industry got this law passed? What do you think?

Of course, Sona MedSpa only hires the most experienced technicians to handle your laser hair removal process.

Help Your Hair Survive the Winter

The winter is brutal on hair. Moving from the warmth of your home to the frigid winter air causes your hair to become brittle. Here are a few things you should do to keep your hair healthy and moisturized.

1) Don’t blow dry your hair more than you have to. It goes without saying that the intense heat generated by blow dryers will dry your hair out very quickly. If you must blow-dry your hair, trying turning it on low to keep the heat to a minimum.

2) Try to shampoo your hair no more than once a day, and try a dry shampoo every other day. Most shampoos contain agents that will dry out your scalp and your hair.

3) Avoid brushing your hair too often. It is far more brittle and will fall out more easily.

4) Lastly, don’t take extremely hot showers. This will strip the moisture from both your hair and your scalp.

If you follow the tips above, your hair should stay beautiful into the summer!

Winter Skin Care . . . What You Need to Know

If you want to maintain healthy skin throughout the winter, you need to do the following:

1)Your skin has a protective hydrolipid barried- help restore it- Don’t peel more than 2-3 days a week. If you do, you won’t be able to restore your skin’s hydrolipid barrier.

2) Moisturize every single day, but make sure to do it about 30 minutes prior to going outside. Believe it or not, if you don’t let your skin absorb the moisturizer, it can actually freeze on your skin, creating micro-crystals!

3) Wear sunscreen to protect against UV rays- Find a moisturizer that has SPF in it. The winter sun can be just as harsh as the summer sun, as it reflects off the snow.

How Much Are You Spending on Your Makeup?

It is estimated that that British women spend 964 million Euros every month on m akeup. That’s a lot of money. But it gets worse. It is estimated that these women waste 3/4 of what they purchase.

On average, women typically own 8 products but only use two of them.  And many women claim to keep their products for longer than three years.

The worst offenders are 18-34 year old women, who often own up to 20 products. They buy more products and keep them longer, too, and their selection is often upwards of 150 Euros.

Once women reach 55, however, their spending drops dramatically. And once women hit 65, they’re only spending about 50 Euros a year on their makeup.

How much do you spend each year on your makeup?
